WELCOME TO EASTECO WEBSITE
On behalf of the Governing Board of the East African Science and Technology Commission (EASTECO), I am pleased to welcome you to the commissions’ website. EASTECO is the institution of East African Community (EAC) that is mandated to promote and coordinate the development, management and application of science and technology in the Partners States for enhanced socioeconomic development and regional integration. The commission is the main regional agency through which the Partner States develop and implement common science, technology and innovation (STI) policies, programmes and projects in priority areas that include human resources development, collaborative research, technology development and innovation. These regional STI priorities are to enable and support the sustainable production of goods and services and enhance the economic competitiveness of the community in accordance with the EAC Common Market Protocol of 2010 and the EAC Vision 2050. This website therefore, is an interactive platform for stakeholders in science, technology and innovation to access relevant and updated information on the status of science and technology in the community and beyond.
The Governing Board is committed to providing strategic direction and oversight functions to the commission to ensure that the region realizes its vision through production and promotion of evidence-based policies; production of STI knowledge, and application of STI knowledge for technology development and innovation to unlock the East Africa’s development potential for the wellbeing of the east African Citizen. The website therefore provides a wealth of information and resources to guide and facilitate better understanding of available opportunities and challenges in the region, and the resources that can be applied to harness the benefit of STI in the community. It also provides online services, latest news, regional programmes and projects, upcoming events, and reports among others. The website is further linked to a number of webpages and websites through which additional data and information on STI can be accessed.
