Objectives of the Commission:

The Development Objective of EASTECO is to promote & coordinate the development, management & application of Science & Technology to support socio-economic development & regional integration.

The Specific Objectives include:

Regional Science, Technology and Innovation (STI) policy formulation

Joint development and application of Science and Technology for the East African Community

Cooperation in joint research and development in Science and Technology

Joint mobilisation, utilisation, management and development of resources, both material and human for the development of science and technology in the Community

Development, adoption and utilisation of Information and Communication Technology, as well as the adoption of new and emerging technologies

Promotion of scientific and technological innovation and invention in the Partner States

Cooperation with organizations with similar objective

Development and Implementation of the East African Regional Strategy on Indigenous Knowledge and Technology Systems

Development and Implementation of the EAC Regional Digital Agenda

Development of the EAC Regional Policy for Science, Technology and Innovation (STI)

Development of the EAC Regional Policy for Intellectual Property

Development of the EAC Regional Research Agenda

Establishment and operationalization of the East African Journal of Science, Technology and Innovation (EAJSTI)

Support to the EAC Regional Cooperative Grant Initiative (CGI) as piloting phase for the development of the East Africa Collaborative Research Initiative (EACRI)

Establishment of the EAC Regional Network of Research and Technology Development Organisations (RTOs)

Organising the EAC Regional eHealth and Telemedicine Workshop, Ministerial Conference and International Trade Exhibition
