THE 1ST REGIONAL STAKEHOLDER MEETING OF THE EAST AFRICAN SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY COMMISSION AND THE SUB-SAHARAN AFRICAN SCIENCE GRANTING COUNCILS’ FORUM 22ND – 26TH AUGUST 2016, LEMIGO HOTEL, KIGALI, RWANDA.
The East African Science and Technology Commission (EASTECO) in collaboration with the National Commission of Science and Technology (NCST), the Science Granting Councils Initiative (SGCI), the African Centre for Technology Studies (ACTS) and the Southern Africa Research and Innovation Management Association (SARIMA) are jointly organizing the 1st EASTECO stakeholders’ meeting and the Sub-Saharan African Science Granting Councils’ Forum to take place at LEMIGO HOTEL, in Kigali, Rwanda from 22nd to 26th August 2016.
The forum will bring together policy makers from the countries in the region with responsibility for the implementation of national development strategies; representatives of National Science Granting Councils and key regional STI stakeholders; and representatives from the private sector, non-governmental organizations (NGOs) and other sectors of civil society.
The Forum is organised as follows:
22nd – 23rd August 2016: EASTECO Stakeholders’ Meeting
The objective of this meeting is to discuss and agree on regional STI priorities, explore potential synergies and/or areas of collaboration between National Commissions/Councils for Science and Technology in the EAC region, achieve consensus on regional STI policy research agenda and gather input from stakeholders with the aim of informing the EASTECO strategic Plan 2017-21.
24th August – Science Granting Councils Initiative Meeting
The objective of this meeting is to introduce the Initiative’s Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning (MEL) framework and provide an opportunity to the SGCI participants to interact with the Collaborating Technical Agencies.
25th – 26th August – SARIMA Meeting
The objective of the SARIMA meeting is to foster a deeper understanding on the fundamentals of research management in a Science Granting Council (SGC) Environment.
